Menhir
Menhirs are big blocks of stone (superficially calcareous ), of changeable length and irregular form, vertically driven
in the ground. They date back to Neolithic Age and are diffused especially in the British Isles and in France, but
also in other regions of Mediterranean zone, particularly, as for Italy, in Sardegna and Puglia. Terlizzi, in fact,
in his territory, has four great menhir far one from the other 600 mt . The highest one is 2.48 mt tall; there are
others of smaller dimensions near this one. Scholars have discussed for a long time about their meaning. Someone
says that they are a simple symbol of boundary, someone else says they are "symbols" of inexplicable meaning.
